TPS Allstars win the Going for Gold Team Challenge!

The Final of the Going for Gold Team Challenge took place on Friday 25^th May at Gateshead International Stadium.

The final saw the culmination of 4 months worth of activity, in which challenger’s took part in 6 weeks of taster sessions in the 5 sports that formed the Team Challenge:-

• Archery
• Badminton
• Cycling
• Rowing
• Running

They then went on to take part in six separate competition dates, competing for as many points as possible to become the ‘most active team’ in Gateshead and get their hands on some great prizes which included:-

• £20, £15, & £10 Sports vouchers
• Free Learn to Row course worth £145
• Free 12 Month GO Membership
• Official London 2012 Mugs
• Official London 2012 pin badges
• Going for Gold Goody bags
• Gateshead Council Active Cards
• Trophies & Medals
• Tickets to a Gateshead F.C. home fixture
• A family pass to a Newcastle Falcons home fixture
• Tickets to a Newcastle Eagles home fixture
• An outdoor experience at Whickham Thorns Outdoor Activity Centre.

After a total of 454 attendances at tasters and competitions and 15,388 points scored over the challenge, Team TPS AllStars from NHS South & Tyne Wear were crowned champions with 3,503 points.

Team TPS Allstars were strong contenders from the very start of the challenge, racking up lots of attendances at the taster sessions and winning lots of points each week at the competitions.

Other teams also got very involved in the challenge and come the final night, there was a very close battle for 2^nd & 3^rd place.

Other prizes were also on hand. An individual Attainment award for the challenger that attended the most sessions throughout the competition and each team also nominated an M.V.P (Most Valued Player); an award to the person who they feel inspired the team the most.
